There are two types of auctions: public RV auctions and dealer RV auctions. Public RV auctions are open to anyone.  Most of the RV auctions listed on RVs on Autotrader are open to the public, whereas dealer RV auctions are private. Dealer RV auctions require you to have an RV dealer license as well as the necessary credentials, insurance and business-license requirements as outlined by your state and/or county. But don’t worry: if you don’t want to deal with all that red tape, you can hire an RV broker to find and bid on a motorhome for you at these auctions.

To the uninitiated, a RV auction can be somewhat overwhelming since there are many rules which need to be followed during the bidding and sales process. Each RV is listed with a starting price. If you find a RV you're interested in, determine, and set your maximum bid. If your bid wins, you’ve purchased the motorhome. All auctions have fees which are in addition to the RV’s final bid price so be sure to understand these fees and account for them in your budget. All online auctions also have a shipping partner to fulfill delivery of the vehicle to you.
