RV Overview

1955 Aljoa restored Vintage Camper

This charming little 16' camper was found sitting on a lot in Oregon about 10 years ago. It was purchased by camper restoration specialist Ron Head and brought back to his facility to wait it's turn. Ron painstakingly peeled off the aluminum skin and exposed the rotted wood and other previously hidden horrors. He then set to rebuilding each bit, rewiring with upgraded, modern Romex/NM cable, adding several 120V outdoor and indoor outlets along with new wall mounted lamps. The camper was fully insulated and all structural wood was replaced. On the interior, the cabinets were refinished and most of the interior structure was rebuilt with marine grade plywood. Aluminum "tin ceiling" back splash, new counter-tops, refreshed Preway propane stove, new Frigidaire propane refrigerator, new upholstered seat/back cushions, new memory foam bed and new black and white checkered vinyl floor. All interior wood was then sanded and stained, finished to match the original appearance. The layout is set up with a table and two benches (with underside storage) to the right, galley kitchen straight ahead and off to the left is the sleeping area with a double bed, small closet and upper storage shelf.

Although there is a sink and running water when hooked up to an outside source, there is no bathroom/toilet. There is an exterior 220 hook up for all electrical power when at a campsite.

On the outside, all the aluminum panels were sanded and stripped, the dents were smoothed out as well as they could be while still keeping the original metal. It was all reassembled and repainted in a period correct white and pink that extends to the propane tank and wheels.

A louvered awning was added to the front window.

Ron then took her to local shows in the Bend OR area.

Last year she was purchased by a young couple here in CT, with the plan to modify her a bit for a mobile cocktail business they were starting. Life can change quickly and a chance at a move to Portugal, and start an AirBnB business came up and so they are now in the midst of getting that move in place and are selling this restored 1955 Aljoa camper, ready for the vintage camper show circuit or to just tow behind a classic car and hit campgrounds around the US.

The 7 pin wiring harness runs the exterior lights and electric brakes.

Asking price on this cute as a button, not often seen 16' Aljoa Sportsman Camper, is $23,800
